Sandy Fielden, Director, Oil Research
Mr. Fielden is the Director of Research for the Commodity and Energy group at Morningstar. He provides research and analysis for commodities and energy customers with an emphasis on the oil market. Thanks to his deep industry expertise, he has authored hundreds of articles and spoken at dozens of conferences, focusing on topics ranging from trading and market risk to infrastructure constraints and regulation of oil. He has been featured on a variety of reports across multimedia platforms on Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, and CGTN America, among others. Prior to joining Morningstar in 2016, Mr. Fielden was Director of Energy Analytics at RBN Energy, where he authored and edited a daily blog distributed to 20,000 energy professionals and frequently presented at RBN's "School of Energy" conferences.
Mr. Fielden has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and holds the Energy Risk Professional designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals. He holds a bachelor's degree in international history and politics from Leeds University and a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in international business from Bradford University.
Matthew Hong, Director, Power & Gas Research
Mr. Hong is the Director of Research, Power and Gas at Morningstar. His high level of industry knowledge provides analysis and research for clients in the power and gas markets. Prior to joining Morningstar in 2017, he held several roles in consulting, trading and analytics at Cargill. His specialties include coal trading, power analytics, power and gas corporate strategy, and trading technology.
Mr. Hong has more than 10 years of experience in the energy industry. He holds a bachelor's degree in international business and marketing from Marquette University and a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
